What is the Westover Treatment Centre?

The Westover Treatment Centre is a Preventional Treatment Centre where individuals can go to find counseling, guidance, support and friendship in their recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. The Centre also aids individuals who have been affected by another person’s addiction. Top

Where is Westover Treatment Centre located?

The century-old three story home is located on 1 ½ acres in Thamesville Ontario six miles south of the 401 between London and Windsor. Get a map here. Top

What programs are offered at the Westover Treatment Centre?

Westover offers five programs

• A 19 day residential treatment program for individuals suffering from alcohol and drug addictions
• A seven-day residential family program, (Co-dependent) for individuals who have been affected by another person’s addiction.
• A weekend Family Program, (Codependent) for individuals who have been affected by another person’s addiction and who are currently participating in our residential chemical dependency program.
• A six-month, (or longer if desired) Aftercare Program following completion of each of the programs noted above.
• An Addiction Assistance Service available 24 hours a day seven days a week by calling 1-800-721-3232. Top

Westover Programs are designed for those with alcohol and drug addictions and is best suited to those who are seeking treatment for the first time. Top

Do I need a referral?

We accept referrals from Health Care Professionals, Industry/Employee Assistance, other agencies, self-help groups, family and alumni. Please contact our Intake Counselor Brenda at (519) 692-5110 or bmccann@westover-fdn.org for more details. Top

How much does it cost?

We are funded by the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care; therefore there is no direct cost to you. We do however encourage donations which go towards supporting our programs and additional services and amenities beneficial to our clients. • An individual, male or female must be 16 years of age or older.
• Must be assessed as having an addiction or been affected by someone else’s addiction.
• An individual must be willingness and an ability to make changes.
• Must be a Canadian resident entitled to health services within Ontario. Top

What do you do in the program?

We offer a comprehensive three week residential program for individuals with alcohol or chemical addiction consisting of three modules – Social Skills Training, Stress management and Cognitive Behavioural Techniques. Top

I have a spouse with a substance abuse problem. Does Westover Treatment Centre have a program to assist me?

We offer a seven-day residential Family, (Codependent) Program for those who feel their lives have been affected by someone else’s addiction. Top

What do you do in the Family, (Codependent) Program?

Individuals are expected to fully participate in all aspects of the program which includes lectures, treatment-related videos, discussion sessions, one-on-one sharing with group members and a one-on-one session with a primary counselor. Time is also allocated for rest and recreation. Top

When can I come in?

We are usually booked two-to-three months in advance. We do however maintain a waiting list for an earlier intake date in the event of a cancellation. Top

How long are the Programs?

Our Residential Chemical Dependency Program is 19 days in length and commences on Monday mornings. The Residential Family Program is seven days in length and commences on Saturday mornings. If you are traveling from a distance an evening before intake can be arranged. Top

Does Westover Treatment Centre have volunteer opportunities?
